Getting married in the UK |
||||||
| If you want to get married in Scotland or elsewhere in the UK you should visit the Home Office site of the British Government which will give you more information about what forms to complete & paperwork you will have to supply to the British Consulate in Brazil. | ||||||

Registering your British Marriage at the Brazilian Consulate in London |
||||||
| If you are already married in the UK but have not registered your wedding in Brazil then you have to do so at the Brazilian Consulate in London. We have just done this in February 2004. It was a big hassle for us as obviously we had to take time off work to go there. You will need the following things if you go there to register your wedding. | ||||||

| It is important you have all the correct documentation with you. If you don't then you are wasting your time as they will not entertain any excuses from you there. You can get the forms to register the wedding from their website. You have to complete the form to show the information on your marriage certificate & also what you were doing before you got married. Your witnesses sign a form supplied in the consulate stating what they were doing whenever you got married. Providing you have all the correct documentation the process doesn't take too long. We just wish there was a Brazilian consulate in Edinburgh & cannot explain why there isn't one, still visiting London was certainly an experience for us. | ||||||
