Loch Etive - Taynuilt - Miss Claudia

Weather: Strong Winds , Rain

Bait: Mackerel , Squid

This was my 1st WSF meet this year, arrived at taynuilt driving through some horrible weather with roads flooded etc.

Already there were ticketty boo & bmac, just behind us were peterthe fisherman & andy.

We boarded the boat were norrie & mick joined us, 1st time fishing from the boat here ,

1st mark seen small spurdog getting caught with thornbacks , whiting , pouting which i caught  spurdog , pouting , Brian caught whiting.

2nd mark deeper water seen the same species with me catching spurdog i think brian blanked here.

3rd mark was shallower water where we caught the same as above but with lsd , cod , gunards being caught , i caught whiting , lsd , thornback , Brian caught whiting , thornback , lsd .

It was agreat day out with hot tea on the go , good company as usual best bit for brian was the great fight he had 10 mins bring up a load of lost tackle.

Best of all i won a case of lager ------ for the smallest thornback 10oz .

5 species for me 4 spurdog , 5 whiting , 3 lsd , 1 pouting , 1 thornback

3 species for Brian 2 lsd , 4 whiting , 1 thornback.

Loch Etive - Small Boats

Bait: Mackerel , Prawns , Lugworm

Fish Caught: 27

This was my 1st small boat trip in 10 years , which was hired from Dougie , Taynuilt Fishing.

There was 1 no show from my party which were me , fathersmurf & mad1 also going were Dundeehammer & co.

The drive up was ok apart from the quick stop for mad1 at the green wellie , we arrived at taynuilt which mad1 left his mark by spewing.

The 1st mark we tried for 1hr 30 mins total catch 2 whiting to mad1 , 2 bites offs.

The 2nd mark  we headed back up where Brian caught a whiting follwed by a whiting and another whiting , i finally caught a whiting after 2hrs 20 mins which was then joined by a wee spurdog.This mark produced all whiting apsrt from the spur.

As we headed to the 3rd mark stopped off to see Dundeehammer & co who still were zero on the boat.We tied up just along from them we were only there 5 mins as they left their mark i caught a double shot whiting & gunard , which was then folowed by more whiting for the us 3 .

We took a drive up the loch past the flat rock which was busy, as we headed back down we stopped off at our 4th mark.

This mark was the same mark where Dundeehammer & co were , we still caught whiting but i also caught a double shot of whiting & LSD as time was getting we headed back seen Dundeehammer & co they did catch fish , we tried to teach mad1 how to get the bhouy to no avil he started to go into creampuff to dundeehammer & co enjoyment so played around for 10 mins soaking my crew.

as we drifed slow tieding up Brian hooked into a gunard. Do not know Dundeehammer total yet last count 5.

A good day out only 1 spurdog but 4 species for the boat

Totals me 7 whiting , 1 LSD, 1 Spurdog , 1 Gunard

Brian - 9 Whiting , 1 Gunard...........Mad1 - 7 Whiting

Loch Etive - Small Boats

Weather: sunny but with east winds gusting

Bait: mackerel , squid , herring , kipper , blueys

Fish caught: 13

Arrived at taynuilt with Myself, fathersmurf , mad1 , nuddy .a east wind blowing decided to head to the left as it was a bit calmer .

1st mark we set up had a brew , Brian was 1st into a fish a spurdog his 1st ever , 20 mins later Nuddy had a spur followed by me 5 mins later , all small spurs but stil biger than last time i was out.

Things went quiet for 1 hour the i hooked nto a decent fish brung it up a no bad spur tangled up with brian's line snap the line but it was still caught in line , nudy managed to get in 5.5 lb.

After that things went quiet again so decided to try up the loch when mad1 caught this gunard.

2nd mark not a sniff boat get tossed about decided to try over the other side , i was 1st into a fish another spur , Nuddy was next a LSD ,Brian caught a pouting mad1 sill no catching. I decided to give the bluey a try dropped down 5 mins later a thornie , nuddy caught a thornie then brian's rod bent over he pulled up a spur & thornie .

Decided on another move but nothing headed to last mark a few nibbles but nothing then as brian pulled up a LSD.

A slow day but a few spurs landed , had some on the cam but Brian scrubbed it .

Arbroath - Girl Katherine 2

Weather: fair then wind freshed

Bait: lugworm , squid , mackerel

Fish Caught :5

I joined Brian's boat party of 3 for this 1 , wife told me to go "wedding anniversary today as well".

When we got there slight wind , sun just as we headed out wind picked up cold at that on the hands.

1st drift 1 wee codling for ray "our party" for the whole boat , 2nd drift nothing , 3rd drift nothing boat getting thrown about .

4th drift changed rig set up instant cod on , followed by another there was also 3 more caught on boat.

5th drift another cod no-one else caught anything , 6th drift another cod to me nothing else for boat.

In total me - 4 cod , ray 1 cod , Brian - blank , his kid - blanked

24/05/08 - 25/05/08 - 2 day WSF Boat Meet

Scrabster

Weather: Windy , Sun

Bait: Mackerel , Herring , Feathers . Lugworm

Fish Caught: 22

This mine and brians report of the boat only. All the boat species were cod , ling , mackerel , dab , pollack , coalfish , cookoo wrasse , ballan wrasse.

The fishing was slow to say the least but that is where the other guys came into their own.

Myself never had any bites on day 1 apart from i decent sized cod which i dropped right at the boat , shortly after that i caught a ling. Brian never had much luck until we hit mackerel we got a total of 18 mackerel on that drop , he caught a dab later on .

Day 2

We thought ok might be better had few on but lost mid water , Brian caught a ling but same as me lost it right at the boat , 10 mins after caught a cod 4.9lb 2nd biggest cod  over the 2 days , i saved my blanked with another ling.

Just a slow weekend but fish were getting caught.

Horizon - Arbroath - 3hr - Tightlines Dundee Club Trip

Weather: windy a slight rain shower

Bait: lugworm , mackerel

Fish caught: 14

This is my party report of the trip , we were fishing with the tightlines dundee fishing club.

there was 4 in my party me , brian , mad1 , ray.

When the morning trip came we seen bmac "billy" ta for info & kenny .

1st into a fish was myself a ballan wrasse , followed by a cod , next was ray with a just size cod , ray then caught another cod.

The next few drifts we never caught any lost a few , the boat had a mix of ling , ballan wrasse & cod but not in any numbers.

This next drift Mad1 was into a cod "he thought it was the bottom" then brian then me all at once , just i droppped down i caught a ling while ray pulled in a double shot of codling.

I caught another cod along with ray & mad1.

The biggest cod was 2.78lb for me & ray with mad1 - 2.63lb

Totals - Me - 4 cod, 1 ling , 1 ballan wrasse, Brian - 1 cod , Mad1 - 2 cod , ray - 5 cod

Weather: rain to start , wind

Bait: lugworm , feathers

Fish caught: 47

Went on a local club trip which i booked , even this morning did not know how many was coming - due to no-one bothered to fone/e-mail me until thurs night even that was  a garbled e-mail.

Fathersmurf slept in , Mad1 slept in , now this was going to be a crap day.

Got at harbour told the club which boat , some went on another boat some stood still.

When we set sail noticed after all the running around left my weights in car.

On the 1st drop i caught a just size cod which went back , then zero was caught , Brian hit into mackerel which by end of the day he had 19 , mad 1 was next into a cod , followed by another , Brian caught a cod , in between with mackie for both of them.

I still had only cod 4 hours into trip that pleased a few of the club who were grinning , then i hooked into a ballan Wrasse 3.04lb was glad of that , it was floowed by 2 mackie .

By end of session total for us 3 was Me - 1 cod , 2 ballan wrasse , 5 mackie.

Mad1 - 9 mackie, 4 cod

Brian - 5 cod , 1 ballan wrasse , 19 mackie.

Rest of club , cod , mackie , ballan wrasse , ling

A bad day indeed best of all they want to go further a field

20/07/08 - WSF Meet

Arbroath - Horizon

Weather: Fair but with strong gusting wind

Bait: lugworm , Squid

Fish Caught: 18

This is my report from the meet , we all met up at harbour wind seemed to ok until we left then it was picking up.

1st drift the boat started getting codling to a few of them , Brian also caught a codling , me losing rigs.

This happened for the next hour or so then i finally caught a codling , followed by 3 mackie.

The boat also brung in a few ballan wrasse more codling .

The wind was a problem all day instead of going with the tide we were getting pushed out.

in the last 2 hours it was a constant stream of codling with the biggest 5.4 lb , 1 angler caught a cod with a mackie 3/4 of the way down its throat.

By the end of the session i had 6 codling 10 mackies , Brian 2 codling , 5 mackies.

There were only 3 species caught for the whole boat - cod, mackie , ballan wrasse.

Arbroath - Girl Katherine II - Tightlines Club

Weather: Raining Heavy , Wind , Swell picking up .

Bait: Feathers , lug/rag

Fish Caught: 89 - just our 3 catch

Ariived at harbour to meet what was left of our trip the whole 6 of us , plus locheebhoy & fatherinlaw , thanks for turning up.

Trip started off with a few mackies and 1 wee cod , water was like a mill pond , we moved to our next location 20 mins later.

This saw mackies coming in thick and fast , we could not reach bottom before they hit.

I had a few missed hookups, then a ling came aboard , followed by kev catching 2 codling inbetween mackies.

A ballan wrasse was next for boat , followed by a cod , mackies were always there .

Around 3 hours into trip swell picked up bad throwing everyone around , Mad1 was spewing , Brian took a nose dive into my mackerel box , skiipper advised us it was going to get worse and it did , Brian managed to pull in 4 cod during this hour , also kev with another cod.

One thing though while deheading & gutting mackerel watch out on slippy boats in rough seas it taste horrible , i managed to swallow some of its guts , threw up it back up quick .

Still no a bad session even though it was cut short , now to dry out my gear.

Totals - me , 37 mackies i took home loads left - Brian 24 mackies , 4 cod - Mad1 24 mackies
