General Info

Sunderland and District Table Tennis Club is a relatively newly formed table tennis club, having only come into being in 2001, although there has been table tennis played in the city for almost 100 years.

The Club operates a comprehensive coaching programme for juniors from 7-17, from beginners through to England players. All sessions are under the the guidance of the club's head coach Bernie Morris, an ETTA qualified level 3 coach. He is assisted by several level 2 qualified coaches.

We also operate a practice session which is open to all ages and standards. Just turn up on the day, you will always find someone ready and willing to give you a game!

Fridays; 7pm-9pm, The Sandhill Centre, Grindon Lane, Sunderland. Cost £3

Why not give it a try?! Its never too early or too late to start.

Sunderland TTC would like to acknowledge the Sundrerland Housing Group Aspire fund for a grant of £325 in order to purchase a barrier transporter for the Sandhill Centre. Without funds such as these our club would not be in the healthy position it is in today.

The Premier Club

We are also an extremely ambitious club and operate a substantial coaching and practice programme for more advanced players. This has resulted in the club entering teams in the national cadet league and the prestigious Junior British League. For details of this, see the National Scene page.

The club is part of the ETTA Premier Club program which is a national program designed by the English Table Tennis Association to support the development of new and existing table tennis clubs and to improve the club structure in England. To assist player's development from the playground to the podium.

We also count as our members some of the best senior players in the region. In order to assist the development of these players Sunderland TTC have been pressing hard for a Senior British League team over the last three years and we are pleased to report that from next season we will have a team in this competition, initially in Division 4 North.

This is a major step forward for the club and enables a transition for our younger players from the junior ranks into high standard national competition at the senior level.
