The Stats Section
Now, I'm sure some of you could see this coming (and shame on those of you who couldn't!), but I feel its time for some statistics on the website.

1. Table tennis is the fastest ball sport on Earth.
2. Table tennis is the second most participated in sport on the planet, after football.
3. Professional table tennis players react faster in a rally than human beings possibly can (making them either super human or very good at anticipating!).
4. When a player hits a shot the ball can rotate at over 3000 times per second.
5. When a ping-pong ball gets wellied the opposing player has only 6/100 of a second (or 0.06 secs) to react.
OR as Matthew Syed put it :
"When a player hits a forehand smash it takes only 6/100 of a second for the ball to get to the other end of the table"

Above are some 'facts' about table tennis that I have either read or heard in the 10 years I've been playing. They are my weaponry whenever people start insulting our great sport (as they often do). I have no idea which are true (if indeed any are) and which are not.

That is where you come in. If you know whether they are true or not or if you have some table tennis related facts of your own, either email me on k.j.wilson@lycos.co.uk or leave a message in the guestbook. Over to you!

This is your chance to tell me what you think of the site (no swearing please!) and leave your suggestions on how it can be improved. Don't hold back!

This is also going to be my default page for interesting table tennis related things that don't really fit in anywhere else. So to start off with I have added links to a couple of table tennis games on the web;

http://www.miniclip.com/games/table-tennis-tournament/en/

Also, here are a few links to some videos on Youtube which I think you may enjoy;

One of our players and a far more competent web designer than myself, Dave Robson, has set up a table tennis forum. On the site you can chat with people from all over the world on table tennis related things, watch videos of the top playersm play games and a great deal more! I stongly recommend you have a look! The website is

Finally, a little while ago our Head Coach Bernie Morris and two of our junior players Anthony and Graeme Barella put together some coaching videos. They are well worth a watch and can be found at

Hi there,

I'm starting a new job up in Sunderland this August, and I've been meaning to join a table tennis club for a while now - I've played plenty at home and in my common room, but want to step it up a bit - is there room for an experienced beginner?

Great site by the way,

Cheers,

Jim H

Great to see this site up and running.It must be hard work to keep it up to date.How often do you plan to keep the averages and league tables up to date?The ones published are very early season.As we are desperately trying to attract yougsters to the game it would be nice to have something onsite to attract them like a fun page and more up front links to interactive games like the ping pong game mentioned onsite.How about a junior quiz with some basic questions on the game and the winner gets a free taster coaching session and a t shirt.

Well done Kevin-there is obviously a lot of hard work that has gone into this.Keep it up and I am pleased that you will soon be well enough to play again.

I am afraid Kevin, I have beaten your pitiful score of 110, and now you have to try and beat 184! Looking forward from hearing your next attempt.
